Specific Qualifications
Indigenous Certified Addictions Specialist II
A Indigenous Certified Addictions Specialist II should possess the following qualification, these are in addition to those general qualifications and competencies already enumerated as applicable for Addictions I.
Have an Associates of Arts Degree in Human Services from an accredited Institute of higher learning, (college/university), plus the satisfactory completion of the 30 quarter credits hours or 300 contact hours of addiction studies required for Addiction Specialist I.
Obtain completion of an additional 15 quarter credit hours or 162 contact hours of training in the following:
- Crisis Intervention
- Dual Disorders- Chemical Addiction & Mental Illness
- Cultural Diversity
- Dynamics of Grief
- Human Growth and Development
- A minimum of 6 contact hours of specific Ethics training
- A minimum of 6 contact hours of specific HIV training.
Completed 6,000 hours ( 3 years) of preplanned, reported and supervised professional addiction counselling experience.
